Android (4.1 Only): One of the best things about Jelly Bean is the way it updated the notifications panel. Notifications are interactive, and can include images, lists, and more detail that wasn't available in Gingerbread. With Notif, you can create custom notifications for your Jelly Bean device to keep track of notes, remind you to pick up milk on the way home, whatever you like.
Notif is free (although there's a $1 pro version with custom icons) and once installed lets you create any message you want to live in the notifications panel. You can set the notifications to be persistent, so they stick even if you clear them by accident. You get four types of notifications: the default style (just a line of text and a title), images, lists (which can include up to seven items), and longer text notifications, which can include a reminder message or several lines of text.
It's a shame that Notif only works in Jelly Bean, but that's mostly because of the way notifications there work.
